    BECOME A CERTIFIED REGISTERED CENTRAL STERILE TECHNICIAN
    Whether you are looking to begin your career in healthcare, or are preparing for the Central Sterile Processing Technician national exam, this course may be for you. This accelerated program is designed for anyone who wants to jump start their careers quickly, or anyone who is looking for a career change. The CRCST course covers, anatomy and physiology: microbiology, and infection control: decontamination and the sterilization process: and how to handle, care for, and identify surgical instruments. With 400 hours of classroom, and 400 hours of extern-ship Marie’s Allied Health and Technical CSRCST course also prepares you for future careers such as, surgical technology and nursing.

    WHAT IS A CENTRAL STERILE TECHNICIAN?

    A CRCST or Central Sterile Technician works in the central supply department and operating room of a hospital, and outpatient clinics. The central service area is responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of medical and surgical equipment/instruments.

    WHAT ARE THE JOB DUTIES OF A CRCST?

    Central Sterile Technicians are trained in the cleaning, processing, packaging, distributing, storing, and inventory control of sterile goods, instruments, surgical trays and medical equipments, inside operating rooms and ambulatory centers.

    WHAT CREDENTIALS ARE REQUIRED TO WORK AS A CENTRAL STERILIZATION TECHNICIAN?

    Graduates of Marie’s Allied Health Central Sterile Processing program are eligible to take the national examination required to become a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
