Entrance Requirement:
Student MUST have a complete Physical Examination and a 2-step Mantoux test (for exposure to Tuberculosis) or chest x-ray if necessary completed by the first day of the program. This is a mandatory regulation and there will be no exceptions.
Specific Vocational Objectives:
This 90-hours entry level program is designed so that participants will meet all requirements necessary to take the electronic certification exam and become Certified Nursing Assistants. Upon passing the skills test and written examination it is possible for a successful student to obtain employment as a certified nursing assistant in a long-term care facility or hospital an entry-level position in the healthcare field.
Content:
The program is comprised of the New Jersey Department of Health mandated curriculum and includes 50 hours of classroom lecture and 40 hours of clinical experience. In addition, 50 hours of make-up time (as required by the New Jersey department of Health) has been incorporated into the program but will not be used unless absolutely necessary for a student to complete a module. Upon completion of this program, the participant must successfully complete a skills evaluation, the participant is eligible to take the electronic certification exam administered by Assessment Systems, Inc. (ASI, the approved testing agency). The successful candidate can seek employment in a Long-Term Care facility, Assisted Living facility, Doctors office, or in the Hospital. After passing the exam, the student becomes a Certified Nursing Assistant. Upon becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, the candidate is eligible to go on for advanced training to become a Certified Medication Aide.

Upon successful completion of the training program, and an approval from the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services Criminal background unit, the candidate may be eligible to take the State skills exam. Once the candidate passes the skills examination they may be eligible to go on to take the written examination when the candidate passes the written exam, the candidate may then be eligible to receive certification through the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services.
Testing fees for the state exam are to be paid separately and on the day of the practical (skills) examination. The fee for testing is $76.00 for both the skills and written test. The successful candidate will bring with them a money order for the amount of $76.00 made payable to PROMISSOR.If for any reason the candidate should fail the skills examination please contact the Admissions officer to find out information for retesting.
